On January 28, 1986, a heartbreaking disaster claimed the lives of 7 astronauts as NASA’s Space Shuttle Challenger exploded just a moment after takeoff. On Friday, NASA will mark the 25th anniversary of Challenger disaster.

The crew integrated Commander Francis R. (Dick) Scobee, Pilot Michael J. Smith, Mission Experts Judith A. Resnik, Ronald E. McNair and Ellison S. Onizuka, Payload Specialist Gregory B. Jarvis and Sharon Christa McAuliffe, the first instructor to fly in space.

The public is invited to show up at the ceremony. Flowers will likely be furnished for all service guests and guests throughout the early morning to location in the memorial.
