Adolescent Psychology
Adolescent psychology addresses the psychological concerns and interests of adolescents.
Adolescence, the transitional phase of development in between childhood and adulthood, represents the period of time during which an individual experiences a variety of biological changes and encounters a variety of emotional issues. The ages which can be considered being part of adolescence differ by lifestyle, and ranges from preteens to 19 years. According for the World Health Organization (WHO), adolescence covers the period of life among 10 and 20 a long time of age. Adolescence is frequently divided by psychologists into 3 unique phases: early, mid, and late adolescence.
Adolescence may be a specifically turbulent too as a dynamic period of one’s existence. It has been identified like a period by which young people create abstract considering abilities, turn out to be more mindful of their sexuality, develop a clearer sense of psychological identity, and improve their independence from mom and dad. G. Stanley Hall denoted this time period as a single of “Storm and Stress” and, based on him, conflict at this developmental stage is normal and not unusual. Margaret Mead, on the other hand, attributed the behavior of adolescents to their traditions and upbringing, because the vast majority of problems associated with adolescence in western society aren’t existing in other cultures.
