American River College (ARC) is really a California community college located in the southern edge of unincorporated Foothill Farms in Sacramento County, California. American River College was named as “Military Friendly College” by G.I. Jobs Magazine.

Present enrollment is 35,000 full-time and part-time students, which makes it among the biggest local community colleges in California. ARC has published its own literary journal because 1988, “The American River Review”, which has won several national awards and recognition, such as the National Pacemaker Award through the Linked Collegiate Press and Gold Crowns in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The campus also has its own newspaper, the American River Existing, and its personal English as a Second Language newsletter, The Parrot.

American River College is accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)–an institutional accrediting system identified from the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. In January 2010, ARC the Commission reaffirmed ARC’s accreditation with the highest ranking a college can acquire.
