Cameron Douglas Sentencing
Cameron Douglas, 31, son of actor Michael Douglas, was sentenced to five years in prison today from the Federal District Court in Manhattan.

Arrested last summer on expenses of distributing meth-amphetamine and cocaine, along with the possession of heroine, Douglas pleaded guilty to each charges and received a sentence under the federal ten-year standard.
Michael Douglas, 65, who was photographed entering the court early Tuesday, wrote a pre-sentencing letter to the judge, saying,“I’m not blind to [Cameron's] actions. I do believe out of this adversity he will be a positive citizen. I don’t want to see him break.”
Cameron’s mother, Diandra de Morrell Douglas, and step-mother, Catherine Zeta-Jones also wrote letters requesting empathy from the judge.
Cameron Douglas was arrested on drug charges in August of final year, and was re-arrested later that month when his girlfriend attempted to furnish him with heroine hidden in an electric toothbrush while house on house-arrest.
