Camp Lejeune Marine killed
A Marine based at Camp Lejeune was killed in Afghanistan on Friday, the U.S. Department of Defense said Saturday.
Lance Cpl. Joseph R. Giese, 24, of Winder, Ga., died while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
