Wes Leonard Cause of Death, the 16-year-old Michigan high school student who collapsed and died right after hitting the game-winning shot Thursday night time, was cardiac arrest brought on by dilated cardiomyopathy, a issue of which Leonard could have been unaware. The ruling arrived from the chief medical examiner for Ottawa County in west Michigan.
The results have been launched on Friday through the workplace of Dr. David A. Start, a forensic pathologist, after they notified the family.
What is Dilated Cardiomyopathy?
According to MayoClinic.Com, Dilated cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle, primarily affecting your heart’s main pumping chamber (left ventricle). The left ventricle becomes enlarged (dilated) and can’t pump blood to your body with as much force as a healthy heart can. Dilated cardiomyopathy may affect people of all ages, including infants and children, but it’s most often diagnosed in middle age.
