Chely Wright Coming Out In PEOPLE
Buzz has become floating around for weeks that a large star was heading to arrive out inside the next concern of People magazine. So who is it?
Country music artist Chely Wright.
“There had never, ever been a country music artist who had acknowledged his or her homosexuality,” she tells People.com. “I wasn’t going to be the first.” But now Wright is changing her tune. “Nothing in my life has been more magical than the moment I decided to come out.”
Wright, 39, says: “Early in my life I went through what I think a lot of gay people go through, thinking that I could change and pray it away.”
Wright tells Access Hollywood she felt she was living a lie. Of her long-term relationship with fellow country music artist Brad Paisley who did not know she is gay, she says: “When I realized he was wanting forever with me…I could see the damage I was doing to him, and I cut him off completely, cold turkey.”
