CL&P CEO Confusing Comments
Connecticut Light & Power (CL P) CEO Jeffrey Butler said at this morning’s storm update that company did not apprehend the storm was planning to be that catastrophic.
At the capitol press conference this morning Butler additionally said that it’s CL&P’s policy to rent repair crews before a storm hits.
The amount of snow which ended up being the problem was far more significant than what had been forecast. This event as it came in Saturday started earlier and lasted longer with more snow accumulation. And remember, all the trees still had their foliage on.
… We did plan for long term outages. I did not expect it to be anywhere close to where almost a million of our discrete customers lost their power.
Based on all the forecasts I saw and the snow that accumulated I did not expect that. It exceeded anything that we were looking at as forecast for damage.
Although Butler said at the press conference that CL&P wasn’t bound how catastrophic this storm this is able to be, Gov. Malloy immediately interjected and said he was bound power would be out for per week in some places and also the state was aggressively making ready.
