DeHavilland DHC-3T Turbo Otter crashed in Alaska

At about 8:00 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time August 9, a DeHavilland DHC-3T Turbo Otter (N455A) crashed 10 miles northwest of Aleknagik, Alaska. throughout a VFR flight in between two lodges. Reports are that five from the 9 persons on board died in the accident. On board the aircraft were Ted Stevens (86), a former longtime Republican senator and former NASA administrator Sean O’Keefe.

Senior air safety investigator Clint Johnson, from the NTSB’s Anchorage regional office, will serve as Investigator-in-Charge. He will be assisted by investigators from the Alaska workplace and from NTSB headquarters in Washington, D.C.
