Dominique Dawes Awarded Medal
It’s been 10 years because she competed in the Olympic games, but retired gymnast Dominique Dawes was just awarded a bronze medal for her accomplishments. Following China was stripped from the medal its group won in 2000, the US team, which completed fourth, saw its scores elevated.
Based on MiamiHerald.com, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) stripped China of its medal following an investigation in February revealed that Dong Fangxiao, one of China’s athletes, was only 14 in the time of the competition. She reportedly misrepresented her age on the time — athletes ought to be at least 16 to participate.
All of this signifies that the US group — which consists of Dominique Dawes, Amy Chow, Jamie Dantzscher, Kristen Maloney, Elise Ray and Tasha Schwikert — is going to be getting bronze medals of their very own. Much better late than in no way, correct?
