Dr. William Petit on Oprah
Dr. William Petit, the sole survivor of a gruesome attack on his family in 2007, appeared on Oprah to share his personal telling of the event that changed his life.
Petit was the victim of a horrendous home invasion in Cheshire, Conn. that left his wife and two daughters dead.
After the ordeal, Petit admitted to Oprah that he had suicidal thoughts, nightmares, and flashbacks to the invasion.
Steven Hayes, 47, was convicted for the murder of Petit’s daughters, and for the sexual assault and strangling of Hawke-Petit. Hayes was sentenced to death for his crimes. The other defendant, Joshua Komisarjevsky, 30, is set to go to trial next year.
