It is the Pi Day 2010 today! With all the coming of multiple celebration days, its time in the mathematical constant to will also get its share on the limelight. The fact that it is also Albert Einstein’s birthday has escaped few people’s notice.

The Pi Day 2010 marks the observance of the mathematical constant 3.14, is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. While the symbol to the Pi was first used by mathematician William Jones in 1706, it was exposed to public light after it was utilized by Swiss mathematician Leonard Euler in 1737.

The Pi Day 2010 is marked on March 14, though a quick search on the internet is ready to show that the day will even mark the Pi minute, which would fall at 1:59 PM and the Pi second, which will be on 1:59;26 PM, based on the numerical Pi truncated to seven decimal places (3.1415926).

Lots of people, mathematicians or not, plan to celebrate on the Pi Day 2010. While places such as Maryland Science Center, the Discovery Science Center and San Fransisco’s Exploratorium might be holding their yearly parties to mark the occasion, several restaurants are offering free pies to the Pi Day 2010.

Today’s Google doodle also marks the Pi Day 2010.

You can be a part of the Pi Day 2010 celebrations by calculating your Pi age and Pi birthday, calaculating as many decimal places as possible of the number, finding out more info about Pi Day and the other ways in which its important, or by simply fetching a pie from the corner store!

Atomic clock idea was first given in 1879 by Lord Kelvin. The practical method was done on in 1930 by Isidor Rabi. Then in 1949 in US National Bureau of Standards that’s now called NIST invented first atomic clock. The first atomic clock was of ammonia maser. Its world’s most accurate clock. It works could be to tell the accurate time with no ambiguity. Atomic clock tells time better than another clock in the world. Even it could keep the time better than the rotation in the Earth and even greater than the movement of stars in galaxy. This clock works on atom and electrons surrounding it. It calculates the mass in the nucleus and the electrons charge surrounding it.

Different type of atomic clocks are available. The primary functions of all the atomic clocks are same. A basic difference is just the material used in it in different. The elements used inside atomic clock are detecting the energy level for time calculation in different ways. There are three types of atomic clocks are available:

Cesium atomic clocks: A clock which measures energy level by magnetic field

Hydrogen atomic clocks: A clock that measures time by hydrogen atoms.

Rubidium atomic clocks: It is the simplest form of atomic clock which cans measures the time through microwave frequency in its around absorbing the light in optical.

Atomic clock is not harmful and do not release any kind of radioactive rays. The early atomic clocks were based on masers. In this new era the atomic clock consists of absorption spectroscopy which absorbs the cold atoms in atomic fountains.

America is having a springing forward right now. Many of Americans trade an hour’s sleep this weekend for more evening sunshine to relish after their work.

It means that there’s the official switch to daylight savings time which occurs at 2 am, Sunday, local time and most of people there set their clocks and watches ahead 1 hour before going to bed this Sunday.

What time is it? It is a most question for many people in United States now. The current time is the first question on everyone’s mind after daylight savings time 2010. Time change spring 2010 means the current time is 8:55 AM EST (that is the official time New York at my office).

As a conclusion, today is a spring forward 2010 date! The best part is day light savings 2010 this also only means that summer time is right around the corner now.

Spring time change 2010 is here. The 2010 Daylight Savings time change has arrived, where the United States alters the time in a change that is supposed to save us an additional hour of daylight in the spring and early summer months. The unfortunate thing about the 2010 time change, as is always the case when daylight savings comes around in the spring, is that we lose an hour by setting our clocks forward during the middle of the night. On the night of March 13th, or the early morning hours of March 14th, depending on how you wish to look at it, we all need to set our clocks forward an hour to prepare for the Daylight Savings time change.

The widely accepted time to put the Daylight Savings clock change into effect is at 2:00 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, March 14th. A lot of people will choose to set their clocks forward an hour when they go to bed on the night of Saturday, March 13th, and either method is fine depending on your preference. The only really important thing to remember is that you just make sure your clocks are adjusted by the time March 14th really gets started, or it could really mess up your day. Sporting events, television shows, and of course all of your friends will be well aware of Daylight Savings coming around again, so don’t be left in the dark from this time change.

The Daylight Savings time change always seems so much better in the fall, when we all get an extra hour of sleep during the night. The side-effect is that we lose it again when spring rolls around, and now it is time for the 2010 time change to take that hour away from us again. Now we all just have to hope we can overcome the loss of this hour of sleep in order to enjoy the extra hour of evening daylight that it will create for the next few months.

Don’t forget that the Daylight Savings time change is only hours away, and that by 2:00 a.m. on March 14th, you want to make sure that your clocks are set forward by one hour accordingly.

The kidnapping, false identity and potential double-homicide situation that captured the nation’s attention in the summer of 2008 is back in the news – this time, starring a TV favorite.

The real Clark Rockefeller (left) and Eric McCormack as Clark Rockefeller (Lifetime)

Eric McCormack portrays the alternately charming and alarming faux aristocrat in the Lifetime TV movie Who Is Clark Rockefeller?, premiering Saturday at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It revives the drama of those hot-weather months, when Rockefeller, who not just trumped up his name but his credentials, led authorities for a tense manhunt under the East Coast to get him and the 7-year-old daughter Reigh, known to her parents as Snooks.

“He loved that baby,” the Will & Grace Emmy winner, 46, tells PEOPLE by way of explaining Rockefeller’s motivation – and also desperate father’s life-altering decision to shed his fancy veneer and assume a humble, new life together with his child. “When you become a father,” says McCormack, himself parents of the 7-year-old, “everything changes.”

Meanwhile, only last week the “real” fake Rockefeller, a German national identified by FBI as Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, was denied the latest trial in kidnapping situation, reports the Boston Herald. Currently serving a four- to five-year state prison term for abducting his child and assaulting her bodyguard, Rockefeller (who has also been known as a person of interest in a double-homicide that took place in the mid-’80s in California) is supposed to launch in 2012.

“I don’t think he was that crazy,” says McCormack, who likens Rockefeller to “the ultimate Method Actor,” believing without a doubt he was the character he created. “He was driven. But, like Hamlet, at some point, he crossed the line. He looked from the mirror and he saw Clark Rockefeller.”

VANCOUVER (The National Post)– Canada kicked off another giant party Friday for the world’s best athletes, hoping to reignite the sense of pride that stormed the country during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

But this party, started years before with a plan for this country to host its first Paralympic Games, isn’t just about waving the Canadian flag or seeing if the country’s athletes can top the podium more frequently than those of 43 other participating nations.

It’s about an event that organizers say should help change the way people view others who are missing limbs or eyesight or have bodies that don’t function the way theirs do.

As far as Sir Phil Craven, president of the International Paralympic Committee, is concerned this is as much about “able-bodied people” – a term he detests – celebrating the achievements of others who have overcome the physical and emotional challenges that come with having a “disability” – another term he hates – than it is about sports.

“That’s the difference between ‘Paralympians’ and ‘disability’ ” he said. “Disability is negativity, it is the collectivized marginalization of some mythical group of people. I never use the D-word. Over time you can change peoples’ perceptions, and the Games coming to town do that in absolute bagfuls.”

Smiling broadly and barely able to contain her glee at the arrival of the Games, Carla Qualtrough, president of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, also made that point on Friday as she welcomed journalists to “the first day of the 2010 Winter Paralympic Games.”

“As a sport event, the Paralympic Games are about extraordinary athletes who are exceptionally talented at their chosen sport,” she said. “As a movement, the Paralympic movement is about changing perceptions, dispelling myths and challenging assumptions.”

More than 60,000 people packed into BC Place on Friday to celebrate that point at the opening ceremony. Based around the theme “One Inspires Many,” the celebration featured a moving tribute to Terry Fox, the one-legged runner who inspired a nation with his Marathon of Hope.

There were other Canadian and international athletes included in the ceremony, apart from the 1,300 competitors and officials who came from 44 countries to compete in these Games.

Chantal Petitclerc, Canada’s most decorated Paralympian with 21 medals, and Aimee Mullins, a double-amputee who went on to set world records in the 100- and 200-metre runs and long jump, helped tell the history of the Paralympic movement. So too did Rick Hansen, who told the audience about the people who motivated him as he undertook his Man In Motion tour around the world.

The tribute to Fox was delivered by CTV News anchor Lloyd Robertson, who recounted how he met this young man who wanted to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.

Fox’s legacy played an important part throughout the ceremony and even the lighting of the cauldron. His parents, Betty and Rolly Fox, brought the Paralympic torch into BC Place and illuminated an illustrious row of torchbearers. The Foxes lit the torch of Daniel Wesley, who won 12 medals in wheelchair racing and alpine skiing. Wesley, in turn, lit the torch of Marni Abbott-Peter, one of the world’s best wheelchair basketball players and the honorary mayor of the 2010 athletes village.

But the final honours were left to 15-year-old Zach Beaumont, a young man who has yet to participate in a Paralympics but wants so much to do so. Beaumont, who had his right leg amputated as a baby, has become an avid athlete and one day wishes to compete in snowboarding at the Paralympics. He was selected as the final torchbearer by Betty Fox.

Herve Lord, a Canadian sledge hockey player from St. Pamphile, Que., took the athletes’ oath; Linda Kirton of Abbotsford, B.C., took the officials’ oath.

The Paralympic flag was raised by two members of the Canadian Forces’ Soldier On program: Sgt. Karen McCoy, who lost a leg to cancer, and Master Cpl. Mike Trauner, who lost both legs and partial use of his right arm in an attack in Afghanistan in 2008.

Like its Olympic counterpart, the Paralympic ceremony was sold out, a prelude to what the Vancouver Organizing Committee predicts will be a sellout of many of the 64 medal events taking place in five sports at four venues.

Over the next 10 days the party will spread out to venues in Vancouver and Whistler, where 650 of the world’s best skiers, wheelchair curlers and sledge hockey players will challenge each other to perform their best.

The Paralympics are perhaps one-fifth the size of the Olympics and just 10 to 15 per cent of the 10,000 media who came for the Olympics stayed for the Paralympics. They’re vastly outnumbered by the 5,500 blue-jacketed volunteers Vanoc says it has recruited for the event.

But where the Olympics was an ostentatious affair that closed down wide swaths of the downtown and turned parking lots into beer halls and city parks into sponsor pavilions, the Paralympics are a much more cozy affair.

The LiveCity pavilion park near BC Place is still open, and the Royal Mint has moved to the Coliseum-styled Vancouver Public Library. And on Friday, workers were erecting portable fencing on the street in front of the Vancouver Convention Centre in the hope that the massive crowds that came to view the Olympic Cauldron will be motivated to return for the Paralympic Cauldron as well.
