Fleet Week 2010 New York City
The 23rd Annual Fleet Week, a week-long celebration in tribute towards the women and men with the armed forces, started out on Wednesday and runs via Monday May 31 at New York’s Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum.
Fleet Week activities started with a parade of ships on the Hudson River. Located on Pier 86, this year’s pursuits at the Intrepid Museum will feature performances and displays by women and men of support, as well as Broadway show cast members.
Cast from Broadway musicals like “Wicked,” “American Idiot,” and “The Addams Family” are scheduled to carry out in the Museum later within the week. Representatives from the military will demonstrate military skills and participate in numerous competitions, for example tug-of-wars and inflatable jousting. The Intrepid Summer Movie Series will also kick-off on Friday with totally free public film screenings on the flight deck, including Top Gun, Ghostbusters, and Raiders of Lost Ark.
On Memorial Day, the annual commemoration ceremony will take location. The support will include the unfurling of the 100-foot American flag, ceremonial wreath-laying, along with a military flyover.
