Gabrielle Giffords Scheduled to Attend Space Shuttle Launch
NASA astronaut Mark Kelly says medical doctors have provided his spouse, Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, approval to travel to Cape Canaveral this week to look at him fly into space Friday about the next-to-last shuttle mission.
Giffords was shot in the head in a mass shooting outside a Tucson, Ariz., supermarket more than 3 months in the past. This will be her first trip given that she was flown from Arizona to a Houston rehabilitation hospital in which she has been in treatment.
Kelly stated in the course of an interview with CBS’ Katie Couric that his spouse will witness the launch of Endeavour, which can be scheduled for 3:47 p.m. Friday. Kelly will be the commander in the mission.
