Giant Isopod – Bathynomus Giganteus
This morning, like a submarine emerged from the depths, sailors found a bathynomus giganteus attached towards the ship. The giant isopod is a deep sea creature that’s seldom witnessed.
This giant water bug is a lot more than 2 and half feet lengthy, and resembles some sort of alien space creature.
The underwater robot was exploring the deep seas when the bathynomus giganteus clung unto its hull.
What is a Giant Isopod?
A Giant Isopod is often a giant sea creature that lives about the bottom of the ocean floor as you may see in the video below. It in fact lives in the deep sea and really hardly ever ever is observed washing up on shore. They are sort of an ugly searching factor.
The scientific name for the Giant Isopod is Bathynomus Gignateus. The name makes them sound like they are actually large or “giant’, but actually they are maybe the size of the king crab…possibly a little larger.
They kind of appear like a giant potato bug or perhaps a “rolley polley”. Ugly creatures. They’re scavengers and will feed on anything they could discover about the ocean ground. Basically they’re like the carp with the deep sea. They “clean” the ocean ground and if a single comes across a dead carcass, in a matter of minutes the carcass will be swarmed by Giant Isopod’s.
