Happy Juneteenth

Juneteenth is a celebration of the day the Emancipation Proclamation was produced official in Texas and slaves were produced a free people in that state. It’s the day Union Standard Gordon Granger and 2,000 federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to take possession of the state and enforce the emancipation of its slaves, and the annual celebration and recognition of human rights and autonomy started the following year.
There aren’t a great deal of holidays created to celebrate human rights, so celebrate, people! Happy Juneteenth, all!
