INCEPTION : Estimated $55 million for the weekend
This weekend, the first truly great film of Summer season 2010 hits theaters : Christopher Nolan’s INCEPTION has finally arrived, and it is so excellent that it nearly single-handedly makes up for each other crappy movie that we’ve witnessed this summer season.
Everyone figured that Inception was going to be the film to beat on the box office this weekend, but there’s been no finish for the speculation as to how much the film would actually generate. Some estimates place the film’s earnings as lower as $40m (that’d be the rival studios’ estimates, but they had been still official estimates), while other people pegged the flick as getting the possible to open close to $75m. As it turns out, the truth is somewhere closer to the middle. That’s all nicely and good for Chris Nolan and Warner Bros.
Thinking about how poorly Inception could have done with critics everywhere calling the film incredibly intelligent, thought-provoking, and challenging, all of us who root for your films we love to do nicely at the box office must really be thankful that the film’s set to gain at least $55m this weekend.
