Although the songwriter apparently was offered the pink slip, Ellen DeGeneres produced the choice on her personal to leave the talent show immediately, opting out from the remainder of a four-year contract.
With DeGeneres out, Jennifer Lopez is reportedly close to signing a offer to take more than the empty seat, an individual familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.
The show will probably be heading back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalized, the judge’s panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.
