Kringle Candle Company is back in business
Right after more than a decade’s absence from the candlemaking industry, the Kittredge name is back again in business.
But this time all around it is the son, Michael “Mick” Kittredge III, who’s founder and president of a fresh venture known as the Kringle Candle Company in Bernardston which formally opened its doors to the public Saturday following a 10:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The brand new retailer, housed in the former GBI Marketing building which Kittredge Industries LLC bought in March for $480,000, isn’t too far up the road from Yankee Candle in Deerfield which Michael Kittredge II founded and turned into a multi-million dollar company and tourist attraction. He offered the company in 1998 for what Wall Road analysts believed to become a buy cost of $400 million.
The 20-year-old Kringle Candle founder led a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony which included remarks by Congressman John W. Olver, followed by his father who proudly proclaimed right after stepping up towards the podium, “We’re back”
Just minutes just before the opening ceremonies, the youthful Kittredge thanked his employees before heading out with them for the ribbon-cutting.
