62 year old Luci Baines Johnson was admitted to a hospital in Austin, Texas on Wednesday right after experiencing weakness in her arms and legs. However, she was flown for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota Friday, exactly where she remains inside the neuro-intensive care unit. Physicians are monitoring the potential situation of Guillain Barre Syndrome.

Reports say that Johnson had a mild viral illness just before this, a sore throat and hoarseness that may well have been some type of warning sign.

Guillain-Barre syndrome affects the nerves that control movement and can result in paralysis.

Medical doctors are continuing their tests and Johnson can also be undergoing immunoglobulin remedy for her presumptive diagnosis.

The cause of Guillain-Barre syndrome is unknown, but its sudden and unexpected onset can make it a devastating condition.
