Lumberton Trading Company

Lumberton Trading Company is dedicated, essentially, to bringing new, interesting and exclusive releases by musicians, artists and writers whose vision and commitment to their work exists beyond the usual clutches of their environment. Equally, each release will remain committed to presenting those involved in the highest standards possible at the given time.

Originally founded by Hassni Malik (dROME, Irrational Arts, Progress Report, Splintered, Theme, The Vitamin B12, etc.) and Richard Johnson (Fourth Dimension Records, Adverse Effect, Splintered, Theme, Grim Humour, etc.), it began life in 2004 as an idea, or statement of intent, that has navigated its own path since 2005.

Beside those people hopefully honouring us with releases already noted elsewhere on the site, negotiations are presently underway with others we anticipate working with in due course (such as Brenda LeeDVD and Birds Build Nests Underground). Equally, it is hoped that the label will continue to explore other mediums as well as the records and CDs it is chiefly concerned with at the moment, including the limited edition print by Volcano The Bear’s Nick Mott finally due once some hurdles have been overcome and, of course, the concerts so far organised in Krakow (alongside AudioTong). The latter has so far included Andrew Liles, Faust, Colin Potter, Theme, Whitehouse and Steven Severin. As with many of the record labels that Hassni and Richard have grown up with and cherished over the years, absolutely everything released, published or handled by LTCo (outside the concerts) will continue to also be given its own catalogue number.

During Autumn 2006, Hassni decided to leave the label. Although he remains closely involved, all activities from the Michael Gira LP onwards are solely co-founder Richard Johnson’s responsibilities. As such, please note that the PO Box address in Brighton, England, has not been valid for a long time now and that the contact address is in Krakow, Poland, as can be seen on the homepage.
