Michael Kay gets engaged to Jodi Applegate

ESPN radio host Michael Kay and News 12 anchor Jodi Applegate are engaged. Just weeks after Gatecrasher wrote about the couple’s year-long romance, Kay popped the question to Applegate on a Montauk beach on the evening of July 7.

His proposal came with a four-carat, emerald-cut diamond ring, although Applegate agreed to keep the sparkler and news of their engagement about the down-low till Kay could tell his large sister Debbie the news. The couple hasn’t set a date yet, but provided Kay’s duties as the Tv voice from the Yankees about the YES Network, the wedding probably won’t take place till following baseball season.

Joel Sherman just broke the news on Twitter:

“Congrats to pal Mike Kay, who called me about an hour ago to say got engaged to newscaster Jodi Applegate. Only the best for 2 nice people”
