MTA New Subway Maps
MTA is quietly developing a whole new signage method they hope can help. The newest maps, which are now currently being examined along the 4/5 line and specific R platforms, seem related to the stop-trackers in newer trains, and inform riders what stop they are at and which stops lie ahead.
Nicknamed “strip signs” through the MTA, the maps, which are brightly colored having a matte black background, are being mounted on the columns that operate alongside platforms, exactly where the MTA usually posts track changes. The MTA began to roll out the newest signs in late May and early June.
