Ohio Unemployment Down
Ohio’s unemployment rate completed the year with its ninth consecutive decline in December as being a drop in payroll was outpaced by a larger fall in job-seekers.
The unemployment rate in December was 9.6 %, down two-tenths of a percentage point from November. The national average was 9.4 %.
The number of unemployed workers in Ohio in December was 567,000, down from 580,000 a month prior.
December’s unemployment figures were an enhancement from a yr prior, when unemployment was at 10.8 %.
About the month, nonfarm payroll dropped by over 9,000 jobs to hit 5 million workers. That’s largely on the 7,300-job decline in Ohio’s goods-producing sector, which saw declines in development and manufacturing. The much-larger service sector only lost 1,300 jobs more than the month.
