Annually, on December 7, Pearl Harbor Day is commemorated from the United States. Pearl Harbor Day honors these who died in the shock Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

But what exactly happened in 1941 at Pearl Harbor?

As of July 1941, the united states had ended trade with Japan. President Franklin D. Roosevelt had transferred the usa Fleet to Pearl Harbor 28 months just before to discourage the Japanese military. The usa anticipated an attack within the Indies, Malaya and the Philippines, but never anticipated the attack at Pearl Harbor around the Island of Oahu, Hawaii.

On Dec. 7, 1941, 190 attack planes took off to attack the Fleet. Following 45 minutes, 170 much more attack planes did precisely the same. In 1941, radar wasn’t what it is today, and there was no tv, only radio, and no satellites.

The attacks started at 7:55 a.m. and also the ships from the harbor were under fire for 30 minutes start at 8 a.m. The Japanese lost 28 planes along with a whole of 64 guys within the attack. The us lost more than 2,400 males. Pearl Harbor was the biggest lethal attack by an enemy till the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
