Prop 8 Decision Tonight
A federal judge in San Francisco is expected to announce today, right after a months-long trial, whether or not the ballot measure that eliminated gay marriage in California is constitutional. The ruling is scheduled to become released in between 2 and 4 p.m. (MST)
Utah’s supporters of same-sex marriage plan to rally, either in favor or against the ruling, tonight from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the Utah State Capitol.
“Whether in protest or in celebration, Utah’s LGBT community is going to be out in force tonight,” says organizer Eric Ethington in his Facebook invite.
Several same-sex couples traveled through the Beehive State to wed in California in the course of the brief period that such unions were legal there in 2008.
Observers predict that the losing side within the Prop 8 lawsuit will appeal the selection all the way for the U.S. Supreme Court.
