Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life took home the Palme d’Or, the top honors, at the Cannes Film Festival Sunday, in spite of combined reception at its premiere. The famously reclusive Malick left the producers to choose up the award for the drama, which stars Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain and Sean Penn.

The official Jury of this 64th Festival de Cannes, presided about by Robert De Niro, revealed this night the prize winners in the course of the Closing Ceremony. Mélanie Laurent hosted Jane Fonda around the phase with the Grand Théâtre Lumière to award the Palme d’or to the very best movie out of the 20 In Competition.
