The US Postal Service could Shut Down
The US Postal Service (USPS) could shut down for the complete winter due to a $5.5 billion bill they can not afford to pay.
Based on CNN, the USPS can’t afford to “meet an obligation to a retiree health care trust fund” that’s due in the end of September. Nevertheless, Congress is reviewing the bill Tuesday that was mandated in 2006.
The New York Times reports the USPS is facing painful cost-cutting plans for example eliminating Saturday services, laying off 120,000 workers, and closing about 3,700 places round the nation so as to decrease the $9.2 billion deficit.
Postmaster General Patrick R. Donahoe tells the newspaper that things are searching so dire, that the post office could quit delivering mail by the end of the year.
