Tropical Storm Bonnie 2010 Update
Tropical Storm Bonnie, the second named storm from the 2010 season, was packing sustained winds of 40 mph this morning as it moved onto the coast of Southeast Florida.
The minimal tropical storm was anticipated to cross South Florida and re-emerge within the Gulf of Mexico late tonight and Saturday morning. Following crossing the northern Gulf, the storm was forecast to method the Gulf Coast of Louisiana late on Saturday.
Forecasters do not think Bonnie will reach hurricane strength. But South Florida as well as the Keys had been warned to expect tropical-storm-force winds today and heavy rain – as very much as five inches in some locations.
Tropical Storm Warnings are up for the northern Gulf Coast, from Destin, Fla. to Morgan City, La., including Lake Pontchartrain.
