TxDOT Closing Expressways
The snow and freezing drizzle started about 8.a.m Thursday morning, with all the temperatures all around 28 degrees.Black ice speedily formed and drivers had been caught off guard.Twenty six wrecks were noted inside a five hour span.
The state moved swiftly and shortly soon after 10:30 a.m. Thursday early morning, Texas Department of Transportation produced a decision to shut Highway 77 and 83 from La Feria to Harlingen and Highway 77 from Harlingen to Brownsville.
TxDOT officials mentioned they may be closing U.S. Expressway 83 from the Hidalgo/Cameron County line to Harlingen. Authorities are also shutting down U.S. Expressway 77/83 from Harlingen to Brownsville. Officials also shut down Expressway 77 from Sebastian the many way into Harlingen. Tx DOT officials explained the two highways will likely be closed until even more notice.
