Unemployment Extension Vote, July 20 2010
The Senate has state-of-the-art the unemployment extension bill today right after a vote of 60-40. All Democrats except Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska voted aye, as did the two Republican senators from Maine.
Votes were go through aloud, and once the clerk reached newly appointed Sen. Carte Goodwin “aye” vote applause came through the Democrats within the creating. Now the unemployment cover extension bill may be passed for an additional Senate vote that is also anticipated for today.
Thanks to this bill, the federal unemployment benefit program is going to be prolonged through the finish of November, maintaining the four federal tiers and federal help with the two tiers of the Extended Benefits program for any total of up to 99 weeks in hardest-hit states.
This bill will probably be retroactive to June 2 when the unemployment cover system expired.
Democrats are seeking to pass the bill swiftly for it being then signed by President Barack Obama.
