USGS: 7.7 Quake Hits Sumatra
A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck early Wednesday morning local time near Sumatra, Indonesia, according for the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake triggered a tsunami warning within the location, however the Indonesian federal government lifted it inside of a number of hours.

Officials noted no quick major harm or casualties.
Susan Potter, a USGS geophysicist, told The Rundown how the quake happened in a particularly active tectonic location, about 325 miles west of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and about 880 miles northwest of Jakarta.
